WELCOME!

The Wheaton Montessori School annual fundraising auction will be held in April of 2010. Wheaton Montessori is a not for profit school that helps children from preschool through grade 6 develop creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and time-management skills, contribute to society, care for environment, and become fulfilled persons in their particular time and place on earth. The basis of Montessori practice in the classroom is respected individual choice of research and work and uninterrupted concentration rather than group lessons led by an adult.

Because of last year’s annual giving donors and raffle proceeds, Wheaton Montessori was able to bridge the gap between what educating each student actually costs and the tuition charged. This balancing of the budget is critical for attracting teachers with Master’s degrees, providing authentic Montessori materials, and strengthening our school. Last year’s proceedes enabled the school to complete the fencing and bridges which joined the play areas.

This year’s auction proceeds will continue to balance the school’s operating budget by supporting general operating expenses. While it is always exciting to have the annual auction proceeds ear-marked for a specific budget line item, the most useful and important designation is to the day to day education of your children. That said, Mr. Lingo and the auction committee have been investigating stand alone play structures that could be added upon year to year as the budget permits. This will allow our children to enjoy our outdoor facility to a greater degree.
